Inside the control room on matchday
From two hours before kick-off, one team balances gate counts, crowd flow and safety for 40,000 people. We spent a fixture with them.

Two hours out
From 14:00 the control room becomes the nerve centre of the stadium. Camera feeds, gate counts and steward radios converge here so the team can balance entry across eight gates.
Reading the gates
When one gate runs hot, stewards redirect arrivals and open overflow scanning lanes before a queue becomes a crush. It is constant, quiet adjustment.
After the whistle
Egress is planned as carefully as entry — phased exits, road liaison and a final sweep before the room stands down.
